Using coloured acrylic gel on a circle of acrylic glass, Jimmie Durham’s limited edition suggests an industrial spillage, perhaps of oil or chemicals, seeping out from a pipe or a barrel. Like most of the works in his 2014 Traces and Shiny Evidence exhibition at Parasol unit, his limited edition Poison Evidence references Walter Benjamin’s contemplation of the rainbow colours in a thin film of oil on a puddle as a sign of modern times.
